Border Compliance
Imports into Australia are subject to customs requirements administered by the Australian Border Force, while biosecurity conditions are managed by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Do not assume every import from China attracts a flat 5% customs duty. The applicable rate depends on tariff classification and origin. Goods that qualify as Chinese originating under ChAFTA may be eligible for preferential treatment. GST is generally 10% on taxable importations .
